Terry Bagley is the president of smart entry and facility automation at Janus International, which provides turnkey self-storage building solutions and security technology designed to help facility operators increase the value of their properties and improve operation. He’s spent more than 16 years in the industry, previously serving as president and CEO of Centershift Inc., now Yardi Systems. Terry has been a board member of the national Self Storage Association and co-chair of the Utah Technology Council Public Policy committee.
M. Anne Ballard is president of marketing, training and developmental services for Universal Storage Group, a management company that operators 60-plus facilities in 14 states and overseas. She handles facility planning, feasibility studies, design, startups and operational consulting and training around the world. Anne has served on the Self Storage Association Board of Directors and is a two-term past-president of the Georgia Self Storage Association. She’s a frequent speaker at industry conventions.
Rick Beal is a founding member of Atomic Storage Group, a third-party management company that also offers facility-auditing, feasibility and consulting services. Rick is a frequent contributor of industry-related articles and blogs. He’s also been a regular speaker and panel expert at industry events, providing his perspective on self-storage investment opportunities and operation.
Bill Bellomy is a partner in Austin, Texas-based Bellomy & Co., acommercial real estate investment company focusing primarily on the sale and financing of self-storage facilities across the United States. Bill has been involved in more than 200 transactions since founding the company in 2009. He graduated from Auburn University in 2007 with a bachelor of arts in economics.
Josh Boyd is a founding partner of StorEase, a provider of development, acquisitions and third-party property management through virtual management. Josh has a background in selling cutting-edge medical technologies into hospital operating rooms to shift paradigms advancing the quality of patient care. He’s seen what disruptive technologies can do to positively impact cost models and improve the customer end experience. He’s made those core principles the foundation of the StorEase mission.
Thomas Brooks heads the access-control and security team at PTI Security Systems. Thomas has more than 17 years of experience in leadership roles, including a decade of experience in the self-storage industry. He’s well regarded for his ability to help self-storage operators of all sizes achieve their strategic vision by leveraging technology to create a best-in-class customer experience.
Terry Campbell is executive vice president of small business lending for Live Oak Bank, where he heads a team that specializes in self-storage. He’s been in the storage industry for nearly 26 years, having joined Live Oak after 20 years with self-storage building supplier. Terry is currently a partner in several storage facilities across several states. He’s also on the board of directors for the North Carolina Self-Storage Association. Terry is a frequent speaker or contributor to industry webinars, seminars, events and publications.
Robert Chiti is CEO of OpenTech Alliance, a Phoenix-based provider of self-storage kiosks, call-center services and other technology. He has more than 35 years of experience developing innovative solutions to solve business problems. After spending 20 years working for enterprise software companies and a few startups, Robert launched OpenTech out of his garage. His focus is on strategic planning, corporate development, and evangelizing the company’s vision to anyone who’ll listen.
Edward A. Gazzola is the CEO of Bennett & Pless, a consulting structural-engineering firm headquartered in Atlanta, with offices in Boca Raton, Fla.; Charlotte, N.C.; Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Orlando, Fla. He’s active in the storage industry where the firm is recognized for expertise in structure design throughout the United States. He has a master’s degree in structural engineering, is registered in the U.S and Canada, and is an active member of the Vistage CEO Network.
Jeffrey Greenberger is a partner in the Cincinnati law firm of Greenberger & Brewer LLP, where he focuses his practice on commercial real estate with a concentration in self-storage. Jeff assists owners and operators in the design and implementation of legal policies and procedures as well as operational issues. He works with state self-storage associations and is a featured speaker for national and state tradeshows. He's also regular contributor to the Inside Self-Storage family of products, including the magazine, expo, website and store.
Susan Haviland is owner of Haviland Storage Services, an industry-consulting firm specializing in third-party management, operational improvement, training, audits, market studies and due diligence. She has more than 30 years of industry experience, from serving as a site manager to acting as vice president of operations for Extra Space Storage and Price Self Storage. She also currently serves as vice chair for Charity Storage. Sue has a passion for training and considers herself a storage nerd.
Clair Hoover is president and CEO of Freedom Storage Management. He spent 13 years in the corporate world in public accounting and computer consulting, finishing out his time as a chief information officer for a national food distributor. Recently, Clair has focused on building commercial real estate investment and management companies. He serves on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Self-Storage Association and has holdings in self-storage, mobile-home parks, carwashes, residential housing and laundromats.
John Jordan is a co-founder of Go Local Interactive, a digital-marketing agency headquartered in Kansas City, Kan. John has spent more than two decades in the agency world, with his primary focus in consulting and advertising. He’s led roundtable discussions and webinars, and has been a speaker at conferences in a variety of industries. John’s passion is consulting with business partners to understand their goals and objectives, then developing a strategy to attack them head on.
RK Kliebenstein is principal of Coast-to-Coast Realty Advisors. He has more than 30 years of self-storage industry experience, from creating business strategies to disposing of mature assets and everything in between. RK is the author of several books, including publications on how to invest and make money in self-storage. He’s also frequently quoted as a source in real estate industry articles. A frequent speaker at industry events, RK has educated people across the globe about self-storage.
Sean Landry is owner and president of Expert Storage Management, a consulting and management firm that specializes in helping small self-storage operators compete in an increasingly competitive industry. He began working in the storage industry at 19 and earned his first property-manager position after completing a business-administration degree in 2004. He started his own company after several successful years as a property manager in the New Orleans area.
Jamie Lindau, national sales manager for Trachte Building Systems, has more than 33 years of experience in self-storage building and consulting. He also owns facilities. During his career, he’s helped more than 1,300 storage owners with the acquisition and design of their sites. He's a regular contributor to the Inside Self-Storage brand and other industry publications. Jamie has conducted more than 290 self-storage development seminars for Trachte since 1987.
Jon Loftin is vice present and IoE (Internet of Everything) product owner with OpenTech Alliance Inc. With more than 25 years of experience in senior management roles in the self-storage industry, he’s one of the industry’s leading access-control experts, having contributed to the success of companies including Digitech International, Chamberlain Access Products Group and PTI Security Systems. John joined OpenTech in 2016 to spearhead the development of OpenTech IoE, an intelligent platform of smart-connected solutions designed to streamline self-storage business operations.
Stacie Maxwell oversees marketing and communications for Universal Storage Group as well as all branding, design and marketing programs for its managed facilities. She has more than 19 years of experience in the industry. Stacie also works on the company’s facility-development projects, and is responsible for driving its award-winning “4-Phase Manager Training” program and “STARS Team.” Stacie enjoys speaking at industry events and contributing to publications when not busy thinking of creative and engaging ways to educate her teams and help them promote their facilities.
Michael Mele began his career in self-storage investment sales at Marcus & Millichap in 1999. He went on to build The Mele Group, which transferred in 2019 to Cushman & Wakefield. Based in Tampa, Fla., the 18-member, multi-market team has closed more than 350 self-storage transactions totaling more than $4.5 billion. With two decades of experience, Michael has become a key adviser in the self-storage market.
Scott Meyers is principal of Kingdom Storage Holdings, with 31 facilities comprising more than 1 million square feet of self-storage. He’s also the founder and president of SelfStorageInvesting.com, an education company that offers online courses, live events, mentoring and consulting. He started his company in 2006 to acquire, develop and operate self-storage properties, and has syndicated more than $40 million in private-equity partnerships to fuel their growth.
Carol Mixon-Krendl is owner and president of SkilCheck Services, a self-storage consulting, training and auditing firm that manages more than 30 facilities. Carol is a founder and member of the California Self Storage Association Board of Directors and serves on the Arizona Self Storage Association Board of Directors. She’s been active in the national Self Storage Association for 25-plus years, serving eight years on its board. She also serves on its education committee.
Magen Smith is the co-founder of Atomic Storage Group, a self-storage management company, and owner of Magen Smith CPA, an outsourced accounting department for the self-storage industry. She’s also a partner in Safe Space Development, a self-storage development company. Magen started in the industry as a manager and has held every role possible in storage. She has a passion for the industry, helping owners improve their business, teaching asset management and conducting self-storage audits.
Peter Stuhlreyer is founder and chief architect of Auburn Hills, Mich.-based architecture and design firm Designhaus LLC. He’s been a practicing architect since 1996 and has led Designhaus for two decades. The company took its first steps toward being a major contributor to the then-emerging third generation of self-storage in the early 2000s. He has projects in 15 states. Peter graduated in 1994 with a degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati.
Matt Van Horn is a co-founder of Atomic Storage Group, a full-service management company specializing in self-storage management, feasibility studies, marketing and consulting. Matt is also co-author of the book “Self-Storage Domination”; co-host of “The Atomic Storage Podcast,” which airs weekly; publisher of “Behind the Roll-Up Door,” a weekly newsletter dedicated to the self-storage industry; and former president of the Florida Self Storage Association.
Ben Vestal has been involved with the management, development and brokerage of commercial real estate for the last 20 years. He’s the CEO of Argus Self Storage Advisors, the nation’s largest network of real estate professionals specializing in self-storage, with a transaction history of more than $3 billion. He’s also a founder of Argus Professional Storage Management, a third-party management company. His specialized expertise gives him a unique perspective on the self-storage industry.
Caesar Wright has been president of Mako Steel Inc. for more than 25 years and has worked in the steel business his entire career. Using this experience, he helped establish Mako as a leader in self-storage construction. Caesar is frequently asked to contribute, present and advise on the ever-changing storage industry due to his innovative and in-depth knowledge base. He’s known for his ability to manage, negotiate and succeed without compromising his integrity or sense of humor.
